Marriage Requirements
Application
for Marriage Licence
Couples must be on Rarotonga just three days prior to your wedding day. Your application
for a marriage license must be made
in person to the registrar
of Marriages in the Cook
Islands. Applications take a minimum
of 3 days for processing. Your wedding co-ordinator will assist you in filing your application and transport you to the Registrar of Marriages.
Documents
Required
Your birth
certificate and passport
are required when
filling the “Notice
of Intended Marriage”
in the Registrars office
in Avarua, Cook Islands.
All documents must be in English or translated to English. Weddings in the Cook Islands are legally binding and internationally recognised.
If divorced,
a copy of the Decree Nisi
(divorce documents) will
be required. If widowed,
death certificate of spouse
is required.
