Muri Beach

Muri Beach is a popular location for all varieties of water sports and beach activities. The lagoon here is the broadest on the island, containing three small islands (motu) within swimming and canoeing distance. The white sands of Muri Beach, crystal blue lagoon and beautiful motu make this a spot not to be missed.

Nautica Ltd Rental Hire

Nautica is located at Sails on Muri Beach and hires Catamaran | Laser | Sunburst | Optimist | Kayak [single & double] | Windsurfers. Personalized sailing lessons also available. Learn to sail on one of the best beaches in the Pacific. See Melvin or any Sails staff member for bookings.

Nautica's Kayak Hire: Muri lagoon is a great location for kayaking or canoeing, the vast lagoon and uninhabited islands beg to be explored. Paddling around the coral reef it is possible to see all kinds of fish and sea life from the comfort of your canoe or kayak!

Windsurfing

The only windsurfing spot within the lagoon. Prime windsurfing location for beginners and the more experienced. Windsurfers can be hired from Nautica Rentals all year round. Windsurfing lessons available.

Rarotonga Sailing Club

The Rarotonga Sailing Club is based on Muri Beach where Saturday and Sunday races are held in season. Lasers, Sunbursts, Optimists, Hobie Cats, Traditional sailing vaka and Electrons sail from the Club. See Sailing Club for more information. Sails Restaurant operates 7 days from the Sailing Club premises.

Vaka Club

The Vaka Club is located right next door to Sails Restaurant and the Rarotonga Sailing Club. Most days of the week these traditional paddling canoes can be seen on the lagoon. A number of teams compete in season over short and long distances and top teams participate in international events around the Pacific region.

Snorkelling

Taakoka island is one of the motu nestled in the Muri Lagoon. The reef side of this motu provides superb snorkeling around the coral outcrops. An abundance of sea life thrive in excellent visibility, including brightly coloured reef fish, clams (paua) and starfish.

Sailing

Lasers and sunbursts can be hired on Muri Beach dependent on weather via Nautica Ltd [see above].

Lagoon Cruises

Lagoon Cruises operate from Captain Tama's and also from the Pacific Resort on Muri Beach. These trips include snorkeling, fish feeding and an island style lunch on the Koromiri island/motu. Cruises take place in a glass bottom boat for those who wish to witness the fish feeding in a dry place!
